- The eldest of 12 children in upstate Maine, he made his way down to Connecticut for work and, after a bashful courtship with Jeanne, raised three children with the belief that loving your family means supporting your family, even if that means working 3 jobs at once; a Republican who thought Social Security was something to hold onto; an ex-smoker who sat with the smokers at work; a man who acquired the affection of others without ever kissing anyone's ass; a husband who took great joy in getting his wife to laugh; a father who showed his pride with good, subtle advice; a grandfather who didn't stop grinning whenever he heard or observed Natalie.
